“The economic power of the fashion industry in the United States is undisputed,” asserted Shawn Yancy of Fox 5 News, introducing a panel of experts from the local fashion industry. “It is one of the three basic needs we all have. We need food, we need shelter, and we need clothing…The U.S. apparel market is the largest in the world. In 2016, store-based retailers valued approximately 292 billion U.S. dollars. The fashion retail industry e-commerce from accessories and apparel yielded sales that same year of 72 billion dollars, and it’s projected to increase to 160 billion by 2021.”
