Virtual Incubator

The DC Fashion Foundation is excited to launch our Virtual Incubator: An online forum where designers learn from subject matter experts around the globe.

The Virtual Incubator aims to expand access to speakers spanning multiple disciplines, from fashion design to the business of fashion to the lifestyle industry. It responds to a world where brands increasingly branch out from fashion to encompass their audience’s full lifestyle, including their clothing, their beauty items, and their home goods. It also responds to an increasingly globalized world, where brands can cater to far-flung clientele.

The Virtual Incubator runs on Zoom, an online video-conferencing technology. Designer participants can log-in at a pre-set time for a live session with a subject matter expert. Zoom empowers the session participants and leader to see, hear, and engage with one another.

By breaking down the geographic barriers that would usually prevent these creative and business minds from meeting, the Virtual Incubator both empowers designers to engage new experts and encourages them to envision their business as part of a global economy.

Who Can Participate

The Virtual Incubator is currently in beta testing and available only to DC Fashion Foundation Designers-in-Residence and special invited guests. We intend to open the Virtual Incubator to a broader audience after refining it in these testing sessions.
